"I call God as my witness that it was in order to spare you that I did not return to Corint for 2 Corinthians."
4. 2 cor 8:20-21: 20 "We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift. 21For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men."
5.2 Corinthians 10:9-11

Corinthians!

How does Paul answer the following questions from the Corinthians?
a. Who's the spiritual leader of our church?
--God
b. What should we do with the church member living in sin w/his stepmom?
--call a meeting of the church...then you must throw this man OUT!
c. Is it okay for church members to sue eachother?
--How dare you file a lawsuit and ask a secular court to decide the matter instead of taking it to other believers.
d. Can we do anything we want?
--not everything is good for you...dont you realize that your bodies are part of Christ. Should a man take his body which belongs to Christ and join it to a prostitute? NEVER
e. Should we get married or live celibate lives?
--I wish everyone were single just as I am but God gives to some the gift of marriage and to others the gift of singleness.
f. Is it okay to eat meat sacrificed to idols?
--We cant win with God's approval by what we eat...but you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble.
g. Is it okay to turn Lord's Supper into potluck?
--you are not really interested in the Lords supper for some of you hurry to eat your own meal without sharing with others. As a result some go hungry while others get drunk.
h. Will Christians really be raised from the dead?
--If there is no resurrection of the dead then Christ has been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is useless and our faith is useless

THE BOOK OF LUKE!

Who is Theophilus or who might he have been?
--was a roman official in charge of pauls trial in rome.
How much of the NT was written b/c of him?
--a third.
Who is the author of Luke?
--luke is silly.
Without Luke’s letter to Theophilus, what would we be missing? (list it out) Also, what “word” would we be missing?
--the story of baby Jesus, the parable of the good samaritan, and the prodigal son. SAVIOR.
What does Luke 2:10-11 say?

--Jesus has come to save everyone not just the jews.

Describe the beating of Jesus.
--Jesus was beat after being stripped and then being tied to a pole. Then Jesus had to carry the cross on his back then he was nailed to the cross on his wrist and feet. The way they nailed him on the cross made it hard for him to breath and then he was speared to death.
Describe the “dead man walking” phase.
--Victim carries crossbeams to execution site and the crossbeam is attached to a pole the seat prolongs the torture making it easier to breath
Describe the “nailed” phase.
--iron nails pin wrist and feet to cross nails miss main arteries and bones wine laced with pain killing myrrh or frankincense is offered.

MARK HOMIEE :)

a. Why is Mark considered a book for “readers with short attention spans”?
- its the shortest of the four gospels.
-light on talk, heavy on action.
b. What does Mark open up with (rather than a family tree or the birth of Jesus)?
-the jordan river, where jon the baptist was baptizing people.
c. What does Mark 1:7-8 say?
-" someone is coming soon who is greater than i am so much greater that im not even worthy to stoop down like a slave and untie the straps of his sandals. I will baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
d. “Then Jesus took off to work”…doing what?
-rounding up disciples, healing hundreds, feeding thousands, freeing the tongues of the speechless, tying the tongues of snooty scholars, calming storms, walking on water, dying and coming back to life.
